However, even with the grand new capital, the hearts of the people remained uneasy. Old powers stirred beneath the surface, and the populace lived in tension. At this pivotal moment, the secret archives of the Onmyōryō trembled—the Hyakki Scroll quivered, talismans shattered, black mist surged, and a malevolent aura filled the air.

From then on, yokai once again appeared beneath the moonlight—singing, playing pranks, and living a thrilling nocturnal life.
A gaze into their eyes at midnight could leave one enchanted—or worse, claim one’s life.
